About Sincera

Sincera Consulting is based on a simple premise: doing good work leads to more work in the future. Our focus is not solely on making sales, although that is important to us. Rather, our primary goal is always to provide excellent service for a fair price.

It often happens that professional services and training are treated as an afterthought, something that comes bundled in with the hardware or software purchase. At Sincera, we take the position that the best software in the world isn’t much good without a high-quality implementation to make it work for you.

Sincera has been in business since 2003, and in that time we’ve grown from a small one-person business into a professional services and training organization capable of meeting the needs of customers both small and large. As we’ve grown, we’ve been able to maintain our approach towards our work - ensuring that what we deliver is what our customers want and need. Our very name is based on this philosophy.

What’s in a name?

In ancient Greece, pottery was commonly used for the storage of food, oil and wine. The type of pot most typical of the period was known as an amphora, as seen in this picture. The profession of potter was a common one because of the high demand. Any market or street was likely to have at least one pottery shop.

When a batch of pots was fired in the kiln, some of them could develop cracks during the process. This made them less valuable, as they could not be used to store liquids. However, unscrupulous potters would sometimes fill in the cracks with a special type of wax, and then paint over the patched area.

People in search of an honest product would avoid potters with a reputation for using wax on their products.

A dealer with integrity would proudly advertise his wares as "sin cera", or without wax. Eventually, this phrase became the word "sincere", which Webster's Unabridged defines as:

"Being in reality what it appears to be; having a character which corresponds with the appearance; not falsely assumed; genuine; true; real."
